IUCN status: Least concern

 

 

General Information: Oceanic and always found in offshore waters, normally above the thermocline. Feed mainly on pelagic fishes and squids. Females are known to spawn once a year. Marketed frozen.  It's the rarest of all billfish species and information is limited.  It has been caught in Tobago a few times.
