Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament 2015

The 20th edition of the Tobago International Game Fishing Tornament (TIGFT) was held from 12 to 16 of May 2015 in Charlotteville. Several billfish were released and many quality fish was brought to scale. The results are the following:

Divisions:

-Local Division: 39 Anglers on 18 Boats

-International Division: 116 Anglers on 20 Boats (2 Females, 4 Male Junior)

Total Weight of weighed fish:

-Local: 686lbs -International: 102.5ibs -Total Weight: 788.5lbs

Total Billfish caught and released:

-Sailfish (Local Division): 1 (International Division): 18 -Blue Marlin (Local Division): 2 (International Division): 15 Total Sailfish: 19 Total Blue Marlin: 17 Total Billfish: 36



Standings:

-Local: 1st Place: Boat St. Peter from Castara, Captain Wayne Jack with 1117.8 points 2nd Place:Boat Daughter & Son from Charlotteville, Captain Walker Benjamin with 249 points 3rd Place: Boat Deadliest Catch from Charlotteville, Captain Jacobson “Rankin” Jack with 200 points 4th Place: Boat Nemesis 2 from Bon Accord, Captain Peter Ammon with 200 points 5th Place: Boat Sea Lion from Mt Irvine, Captain Gregory Mendez with 200 points


Ties separated by the time fish were caught.

An outstanding event worth mentioning, was the one with local boat Deadliest Catch, which fought a Blue Marlin for several hours and continued to do so after the scale had closed. After 12 hours fighting the fish, the line broke and they lost it, arriving at 5:10 am after being at sea for nearly 24 hours. They were escorted by the Magic Lady Crew for the las few hours of the fight.
